Antiques Scanner for Android and iPhone · Last updated 17 September 2026
The short version: we do not know who you are and we do not want to. No accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no ads. The photo you scan is sent to our server to identify the item and research comparable sale prices, then the result comes back to your phone. Your scans are stored on your device.
What stays on your phone
- Your scans. The photo you took and the result returned for it are stored only on your device. Delete any scan at any time; deleting the app removes them all.
- Your settings. Stored locally.
What leaves your phone, and why
When you scan an item, the app sends that single photo to our processing service. Two things then happen. An AI vision model examines the photo to identify the object. Separately, a short text description of the identified item, for example "Moorcroft pottery vase, early 20th century", is used to search the public web for recent sale prices of comparable pieces.
Your photograph is never sent to the web search. Only the text description of what was identified is searched. The result, including the indicative range and the links it was based on, is returned to your phone.
This happens only when you choose to scan. The app sends nothing at any other time.
What we keep
- Photos are processed transiently. They are used to produce your result and are not kept as a library of your belongings. An identical re-scan may be served from a short-lived processing cache, which expires automatically.
- Service logs. We keep minimal operational records, such as what category of item was identified, processing time and errors, to monitor quality and reliability. These are not linked to you, your device or any identity.
Who processes your data
Identification uses third-party AI infrastructure operating under its provider's API terms, and the price research uses a third-party web search service. Your photo is shared only with the identification provider, and only to produce your result. We do not sell or share your data for advertising, and we do not use your photos to build a profile of you or to train models.
What we do not do
- No accounts, sign-ups or logins.
- No advertising, ad tracking or third-party analytics.
- No selling of data, ever.
- No claim of on-device processing or end-to-end encryption. Identification genuinely uses a server, and we would rather say so plainly.
Photographs of people and places
The app is for photographing objects. Please avoid including other people, documents or anything private in the frame, since the photo is sent for processing. Cropping to the object also produces a better identification.
Your choices
- Delete any scan, or the entire app, at any time.

Children
Antiques Scanner is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
